It depends on the setting the bones are found in.
In an subaerial environment bones won't last for more than a decade or two.
If the bones are protected from weathering they can become fossil. Fossil bones are actually not bone anymore. Their composition passes from phospates (in the bone) to silica or carbonates. (mainly silica)
