he is given a chance to travel and be able to communicate to many people. Spanish? Chinese? At least 2 Indian languages, German or any other European languages.

I would think German, Hungarian, Slavic, & Farsi would all be good languages to learn in this day and age. I wouldn't mind learning any of these. I refuse to learn Spanish out of spite. I live in the US and refuse to learn Spanish.

I would have to say spanish, if you are in europe most people will understand english here, and if you live in the states knowing spanish will open a great deal of job opportunities that are not available for people that just speak english.

That's true. But there's also a large number of people out there who can not speak English. In Germany for example, only the young people speak it, most of the olders ones find it difficult to speak English. In several western countries, there are a great number of immigrants who barely speak a word of English. And since it is very difficult to learn a new language, given a chance, It would be interesting to know what language people will prefer to study. The one that they think is easy for them to learn. Thank you for your reply.

Yes, spanish might be a lot easier to learn though. French is widely spoken as well but one must be linguistically gifted to be able to reach a proficiency level enough to make a decent conversation.
