well antivirus software are useful. but the thing is you have to choose the best one. the top companies give away money to the review people to get good reviews and so they are more popular. but others are also good, and so you have to try them out and see if they work well. i have tried a lot of antivirus and i personally feel mcafee is good. bit defender is also very nice

some of them really are...but the really good ones use a lot of RAM so they are not reliable...

antivirus are good,try using antivirus with less memory usages,well it depends on how you configure your installation.always be discipline that check always for updates,because virus updates regularly,so your anti virus too.
