My best responses?? How does it work?

I'm new to mylot and have been "catching on" by trial and error -- but I there are a couple of areas I don't understand. What is "My best Response" about and how is used - its a rating system from other users? I something you do to add a response from one of your discussions? Please explain. Also, how long do you wait before rating a response as best response? I would appreciate some feedback, I have read through the quidelines etc. but maybe I missed the instuctions somewhere. thank you in advance for helping me.

Mark best response is for the person who started discussion. When a person starts a discussion. He might be having something in his mind for the answer which could help him in solving his problem. So myLot has given a feature of mark as best response for the asker to choose that answer as the best which really proved most helpful to him in solving his problem. It helps in increasing the earning for the person who starts the discussion.
This is how I select the best answer. If u find it useful for u, u can also do it this way.
The answer should be correct.
It should not be as much lengthy that the reader gets afraid of it on seeing such lengthy answer.
An added image will be an advantage.
It should not be short enough also that it lacks the basic things.
It should carry a source page also so that if the asker wants to know more, he has the choice to visit the source page.
