Star Wars Mimobots to ship this month

January 04, 2007 Mimoco will be releasing its Star Wars Series One "Mimobots" (USB flash drives) on January 8th. The first series features Darth Vader, Chewbacca, a storm trooper, and R2-D2. The Mimobots come in 1, 2, and 4 GB storage sizes and all come with (removable) pre-loaded content including avatars, wallpapers, and video and soundbites. Each character is produced in a limited edition of only 2,500 to 3,500 units. Interested retailers can purchase Mimobots directly from Mimoco (they are not available through distributors at this time). Retail prices range from $79.95 to $169.95, depending on memory size. Past series of Mimoco flash drives have have featured designs by a variety of artists, including Lili (Mucha Lucha) Chin, some of them in very limited editions. They've received some press, including a feature in The New York Times consumer section on August 6, 2006. Flash drives with cool designs are more common in Asia; we've just started to see them in the last six months here in the States.
