I'm Back!!!

The water never seemed to stop pouring in - this is a box that was in my room, you can see how high the water was by looking at the box

As some of you know a Dec 19th I came home to find my whole life upside down. My entire suite was flooded, taking out almost all the possesions of ours, I could deal with this but my son is obviously very upset! My Landlord turned out to be just awful and is now blaming me for all this even though is it impossible, I have spoken to lawyers, police and the residential tenancy act (those who dont know, the landlord got scared when he saw how much damage it caused my things and illegally evicted me) and I will win this case hands tied and get back damage deposit, moving expenses, any furniture I can provide receipts for, etc. However the process will take up to a year lol. Now I am not sure if it is even worth it!So After the flood my mother and I managed to pack up all the was left over of my life and move it to her house where I stayed for two weeks, it the two weeks I got very sick and on Boxing day ended up in the hospital lol go figure with ym luck right lol found out I have pneumonia ( Which I am recovering from pretty good ) But Dec 28th I was out and searching for places, came across one I absolutly just love so Jan 1st we repacked everything and I headed out here, I am now sitting in my new living room! Happy as ever, aside from the around the clock coughing and empty pockets now lol But I am home and that makes me so happy! My internet was hooked up about 45 mins ago and I came straight on to thank everyone out there for the major support I have gotten, I was brought to tears a few times today already!!!!! Thank you all, and I am so glad to be back!

You poor thing! We've experienced water damage several times, and it can be devastating. What caused your problem? Many years ago we were living in a brand new basement apartment when a water main burst on the 3rd floor and dumped a ton of water on us. Then, in 1982, shortly after we had purchased a new home and a week after my son was born by c-section, my husband woke me up to tell me we had water in the basement where lots of our stuff was still sitting in boxes. To be truthful, we had about 4 feet of water. It ruined so much stuff included paneled walls, our washer and dryer, and my entire library I'd been collecting all my life. Why is your landlord blaming you?

I live in a basement suite and the boiler went, it is not even in my apart it is upstairs, all the water which was black(so ruined all clothing in bottom rows of dressers) and steaming hot went down the walls and into my bathroom, then leaked under the walls and such to the besrooms which were on either side, we had at one point knee deep water, it destroyed everything, the landlord is blaming me, which is impossible, just because he is trying to scare me off from sueing lol It is really sad. I am sorry you went through the same thing, I am just glad we are ok. Two days later a major apartment complex by my house burnt down, a lot of people were injured and most were unable to salvage anything, I am considering myself lucky now, I was able to get some stuff out!!!

Wow, I had to go back and read all the of what you went through on the 19th since I'm new. That's horrible, and right around Xmas too. I'm sorry that you guys had to go through all of that, and that your previous landlord treated you in such a fashion, hopefully your case will be sorted soon enough. Congratulations on the new place, though! It must feel awesome to be in a place you really love, and what good fate that it came at such a time. Hope you feel better soon and welcome back.

It's great to have you back! I'm happy you found a new place but it sucks you ended up with pneumonia along with everything else that's been happening. Kitty is right, we've lost a few friends due to tattling of idiots. Get rested up, we want you back 100%.

I'm so glad you were able to find a new place that you like. I lost my apartment to hurricane Isabel because the landlord was too lazy to tarp the roof on the second floor. She ADMITTED she KNEW about the hole, and when the storm came, the upstairs roof CAVED in and flooded everything. Thanks to her negligence. Then when it came time to get our security deposit back, she made up all this stuff about why I couldn't get my money back and took out all these B.S. Fees. I also went to the real estate commission, called laywers, etc etc and realized it would cost me more to get my money back that way :( So sad. Anyways long story short, the best thing everyone told me to do was take her to civil court. I hope everything is back to normal for you now!!! :)

I am glad you are back and things are looking up. Sorry about the pneumonia. Make sure you keep fighting this scum landlord that kicked you out even if it takes a year. It will be worth it in the long run. You will get something back and the satisfaction that he may not do this to some one else again. I hope things look up for you in 2007.

I am so sorry to her about your unfortunate events. So close to Christmas too. I hope you and your sone still had a good holiday. I guess it is true what dont kill us only makes us stronger. Don't give up the fight. You are entitled to compensation for all you and your son have been through. Giving up only allows awful people like your landlord to get away with doing things like he has done to you. Most people give up because it takes so long. I wish you the best of luck. Hope all works out for you.
