i would like information on buying or owning a caravan is it worth it ?

has anyone ever owned a caravan or knows someone that has owned a caravan, this is somethink im very interested in, i want to buy a caravan at a holiday park to rent out is this a good idea alot of family say that i should not do this? but it excites me i think it sounds like a great thing really but people just keep putting me off it, does anyone have experience of renting a caravan owning one to rent out as a holiday home at holiday park or any information they could give me whats its like to own one, costs etc please let me know thankyou.
