I've never had a dog or a cat. I've had lizards, snakes, a tarantula, etc. Currently, I have 2 rabbits, 2 guinea pigs, and 5 finches. All are rescues.

Finches are birds. :) They're in a large flight cage in my room.

We have the typical dog and two cats, but we also have a guinea pig named Scooter. He's about 1 1/2 years old and is a sweetheart. Very affectionate. In the summer, my dd loves to take him outside to play in the grass, but all he wants to do is eat it! lol! His cage gets a bit stinky but she cleans it out weekly to keep the smell down.

He might be in too small of a cage if it's getting stinky that fast. See www.guineapigcages.com for ideas on building your own cage of an appropriate size. You can't smell my guinea pigs at all. Guinea pigs are also grazers, so eating the grass is just fine as long as it isn't treated. Grass hays are the most important part of the guinea pig's diet, but fresh grass can also be used in addition to dried hay. I'd also really suggest getting him a friend, as guinea pigs are quite social. Check out www.guinealynx.info for more information on guinea pigs.
