I was hypnotized for weight loss about 27 years ago. It did work for a while. My husband was counterproductive to this and it slowly failed. I would like to once again have it done. Weight loss not only involves eating healthy and exercising, but what is going on in your head as well. Tackle those demons and you have a better chance. Hypnosis is a good way to achieve that goal.

Wow, I did NOT know there was such a day to honor hypnosis. How cool!! I was hypnotized as part of a group in 1999. I was actually taking a class in something that was taught by a woman who also happened to be a licensed hypnotist. She gave us a demonstration by having us sit in a circle on the floor, and closing our eyes. Then she walked us through a very calming scenario to relax us. It was so beautiful and very serene. Before ending this session, she gave us a suggestion to help quiet ourselves whenever we were feeling stressed about something. I have to say that I STILL carry that suggestion with me to this day. When I need it, I simply close my eyes and visualize. I am INSTANTLY relaxed and calm. I would love to know how to do this for other people as well.

I have never been hypnotized by a therapist in an office or anything like that (though it would be pretty neat!) but when we were kids at camp we would do "light as a feather, stiff as a board" where a group of kids would circle around one kid that was lying on the ground.
All of the kids surrounding him(her) would put two fingers (and ONLY 2) underneath the child lying down.
The person at the child's head would massage their temples and tell a relaxing story that would end in the person floating. The story had to last at least 5 minutes so that the child was relaxed and when the "floating" began all of the kids would start to say in sync, "light as a feather, still as a board" over and over. Repeating it as they slowing lifted the child off of the ground. This was done with only two fingers per child lifting.
Apparently it was some type of hypnosis or something similar because I was on both ends and can say that this definately worked and I guess I was very vunerable to it because there was more than one occassion that after I was lifted as high as they could lift me without being scared that they would drop me I would ask, "did it work?" and then look down and freak out! Once the person being lifted became fully aware they also became heavy!!

Sorry, the correct title is WORLD HYPNOTISM DAY. I could fix it if only there was an edit button. (hint hint).

I've never been hypnotized, how I wish somebody will hypnotize me to prove that it is true.

I was taught "self hypnosis" when I was a toddler. I was shot in the hip and my peditrician taught me how to do it to control pain. I still use it to this day. If I know I'm going to be enduring pain I can use this and make it feel much more like a heavy pressure. But it only works if I get advanced warning. lol
