Everybody knows when you are pregnant the calculate the date the baby will/should come. But I was wondering, who really delivers the baby exactly on the date the doctors sa it will come? And what is more likely, that you deliver before that day or after that day, does anybody know that? The baby I am carrying now is due after the day may first son was born. That is kind of funny right? But I am already anxcious to hold my baby, but I have to wait. When was your baby born?

My son was born 9 days early and I am hoping that this one comes a little early too! It is just so uncomfy once you get to the very end, I couldn't sleep good or ever seem to get comfy.

Baby will come when baby is ready. We all thought my son would be early and he was 2 weeks "late." Next time, I'm taking the due date in stride and not telling a *soul*!

It's just an estimate

I'm not sure what the norm is but with my first son I delivered on my due date and with my second son, he came the day prior. I was shocked.

I am currently 24 weeks pregnant and my due date is April 30. It's my first baby so I can't speak from experience, but based on what I have seen from my friends and also what I have read, it's never on the due date. Sometimes women go into labor early, especially if they have complications, but if it's their first, they almost always go past their due date.

I don't believe it is an exact science. The baby will come when it is ready. Sometimes they come when they aren't (premature). My first baby was born one week after her due date, but exactly on time by my calculations from the time I believed to be conception. My second baby was born right on her due date, but I helped her along. There are ways of inducing labour when you are close to your due date. Of course the fact that I used one and it worked might have been purely coincidental. I remember standing in my baby's nursery when I was pregnant with my second child. My husband dropped in from work and asked me what I was doing. I said I was ready to have my baby. I was huge with my second baby! And uncomfortable. The doctor had actually scheduled an induction because he thought I was too uncomfortable and didn't want me to go too long after my due date. The induction was scheduled on Thursday, I went into the hospital early Tuesday morning (just after midnight). I actually went into labour around 10 Monday evening, my due date. Even ultrasounds are inaccurate so don't believe them when it comes to the size of the baby. Don't worry, you're baby will come soon enough and it won't be long before you're wanting to have another one in your belly again!

I believe the study I read showed that only 2% or 5 % actually deliver on their due date. The thing is...it is an ESTIMATED due date. A major study in the 90's showed that first time moms actually do not deliver at 40 weeks but rather deliver at 41 weeks and 1 day on average when not medically induced. This means that while some doctors begin pushing women for inductions at 39 or 40 weeks a first time mom isn't even up to her more realitic estimated due date until she is actually a week "late"!! Both my children were exactly 5 days after their u/s dates. :-D I had no inductions or anything like that. Angela

My brother was due on October 19, and was born that exact day. i was 3 at the time so i can't tell you too much cause i dont remember. if i can i'll ask my mother if she remembers what it was like to have him on the exact day. As for me, i was born the day after my older sister(she is 3 years and a day older than me). who knows what she would have done if i was born on her birthday. lol.

My first born was 3 weeks early and my second, I was 1 week over due, I was induced with her only because my husband was going out of state, so we chose to induce so he was here for her birth.
