If you had a friend that needed your help in packing and moving, but lived across the state, would you assist? Would you ask that friend for the money it cost you in gas to drive there?
We have been helping a friend pack up his house and put it into storage. We have made the trip once and spent 3 days helping him out. It takes us 3 1/2 hours to drive there. We share a meal when there and have a great time visiting. He will be making the final move next week. We are more than happy to help him out. He has been there for us when we needed him. That is what friendship is about....helping in times of need.

No, I wouldn't ask for money for the gas. I would just enjoy the company and help out. If it got to be too much financially, I would bow out gracefully. Don't get me wrong, if he volunteered to help with gas money, I wouldn't turn him down, but I wouldn't ask for any.

Of course, moving is fun, the whole process is. The time spent with the friend would be memory making too. You can share time, meals and effort since many hands make light work. I commend you for your attention to your friend!

I certainly would help my friend move and would not ask for money as I do not want money. I enjoy helping people, whether they are my friends or not so the money doesn't matter. I had friends help me move to my house when I bought my home, though it was not out of the state and would do the same for any of my friends that live outside of the state or even downstate.

If I had the time I would more then be willing to drive to help a friend. No I would never ask to be reimburesed for gas money. Wouldn't be much of a friend if I did.

I would hope to be able to help out if I could. You are right, that is what friendship is all about! A true friend would do everything that they could for another friend. One time we had an electrical fire in my bedroom, years ago, and our friends/neighbors from down the street were very kind in giving me one of their old day beds to sleep on while I had no bed of my own, and they also helped to re-paint my room. It was really wonderful of them! ^_^

I would go out and help my friend pack and move. I mean that's what friendship is about helping in times of need. I mean what kind of friend would I be if I didnt help a friend out who was in need?

It'll be wrong to ask my friend to pay for when we visit them. Friends like that are worth doing anything for them.

I would without a question. I love helping and it would be like a mini vacation for me. As long as I had the time and the money...I'd be there in a heartbeat.

I'm always willing to help my friends out. I'd help them move and I wouldn't ask for money. I'd be a bit miffed if they didn't offer any as I think it's polite to, although I wouldn't accept it if they did. In the same way I know that if my friends helped me to move like that, I would offer them money and I know that they would refuse it too. It's just nice to offer it anyway.
