....courtesy of the Oil Supermajors and their National governments backers.... I made a phone call to my Indian friends and i was quite surprise to "hear" that the Indian price of high octane petrol and diesel is about US$1 a litre....sure or not? So SCOOTER ECONOMIES! In that case, with low trade surplus in India, Sub Continent of South Asia, Indonesia, Phillipines, IndoChina, non core Latin America, non core semite states....i guess, we will soon see the "rise of the scooter economies"! Yeah! and Mr. Fish ideal world would be closer..except maybe Indian's share of the economy will be transfered to Europe and East Asia... Imagine at 2.0 tonnes fuel usage per vehicle, and US$1/litre.....India car sales cannot be more than 300,000 units....... The other economic bloc would be AFRICAN STATES... i could not see how they can afford US$0.80/litre fuel to use. They might be back to the 1800's using "beast of burden" for locomotion since grass is free...!!!!!
