Question about discussion counter

United States

I've only been at myLot a few days and have noticed something that I'm not sure is correct or not. I've only posted 2 new discussions. In both instances, the little counter that sits next to our username did not count the posts. Whenever I have posted a response, they have all been accounted for. I'm not even sure whether I've notice comments being counted or not. Do we not get credit for our own discussions that we originate?

Created topics and uploaded images does not count in the counter but responses are. All of them can give earnings tho.

I read that you earn from them. I'm not sure it makes sense not to count them though. I thought myLot wanted fresh content and encouraged users to post new, interesting discussions. But now it seems it would make more sense to put the time into doing more responses - at least until one reaches the 500 mark? Thanks for your quick response!

I'm new here too, and think it is weird they don't count your own discussions too! However, I think it's still worth it to post new discussions b/c I have seen my income come in really well on days where I posted a discussion that got a lot of responses :) So you do get paid for that. As for comments, I have seen weird things happen like sometimes I got a point for commenting on my own (at least I thought I did). Also if you respond to a discussion more than once you generally only get 1 point, however there were times I went BACK to an older discussion to add another thought, and I got a point! I'm not gonna figure this out anytime soon, but good luck on the site!

Thanks for sharing your observations! I also noticed that comments as well as responses are counted. So even though we do earn money from our own posts, I do find it odd that they are not included in the number of posts we are making. That means the more original discussions we start, the longer it will take to achieve 500. Some want to achieve that quickly to earn from posting pictures, but I would just like to be able to copy/paste. There have been a couple of discussions I would have responded to but didn't because I couldn't paste a LONG, LONG, LONG link and was such a weird one with lots of special characters, I would have never gotten it typed in right. It was to an article on history.com and answered someone's question. I understand why they imposed that criteria but it sure makes it tough for the newbies to be helpful and I thought that is what mylot encourages us to do?

You do get credit for new discussions that you start. However your counter does not mark when you attach a photo to your discussion or when you reply by a comment to another user. © ronaldinu 2008
