No. Being rich is not a sin, being greedy and coveting is... you can have money without being greedy or coveting and use the money for good things and to improve the world. There's no sin in that.

I don't think it's a sin to be rich. It just depends on what you do with your money & how you act after you become rich. I would love to be rich. LOL

In my opinion, It is definitely not a sin to be Rich. I believe that the sin is "The Love of Money", and not that you live in a financial overflow. So, be who you are, I presume that you are an honest, respectful, non judgemental, with integrity, kind of person. As long as you have good values and morals, I dont see any sin in you living your life to the fullest, and enjoying the Blessings that God has bestowed upon you. Have a great life.

I think that it depends on the way that you became rich. And of course if you are ready to help someone who needs you. And when i say "you" i mean your money.

I tend to agree with 1346795 moneymind. And currently being £31,000 [about $62,000], in Debt, I'd Sure Love to be Rich ! But, not just for myself ! In my own Discussion "trying to make a difference", I explain how a good friend has helped me, by benefactoring me into an autosurf program, that has proven to be honestly - and effectively - run. And how I've built up the initiallly benefactored $5, plus a $5 bonus upgrade unit given for upgrading from a free member, and have built this up to a member level of $275, getting me $5.50 [this has since gone up to $280, getting $5.60 as of surfing today] ! And, as I'm now in a position to cash out daily and upgrade daily, I guess I could simply do just that ! But, I've got Bigger dreams ! So, I'm offering to do as was done for me, using earnings from every other day, to upgrade / benefactor folk into my downline. But, my overall paln is to - eventually - earn enough and become Wealthy enough, to be able to start helping those who cannot even afford to get started on the internet. And, so, give them a chance to change their lives for the better ! This is My Dream ! This is My Goal ! And if it's a sin to be rich, so I can make My Dream become Real . . . Then I'm a Sinner ! And Proud of it ! Danny, Mousehunter

It is not a sin to be rich depending on how you got that way. If you did unethical things to get there, then yes it is a sin. But if you got there by hard work, then it is not a sin to be rich.

Being rich itself is not a sin or working hard to be rich. If you get rich from robbing a bank, corruption etc. then that is a sin.

I should clarify greed is a sin yes but what is greed? Are you greedy if you make loads of money or you are a penny pincher? No greed is where you push the moral line of making or getting money. Will some be hurt at your expense? Like if I own a company and have an upper hand in hiring people fulltime for wages that no one could relly live on? Well it gets complicated because you must consider that you will not pay an a person a CEOs wages to do a dishwasher job BUT with less knowledge comes less many things and if you can take advantage of them well this is when greed comes in. With anything financial you must be JUST and fair. To be just and fair you most not only recogonize the legal law but a moral law judged by yourself. If you don't follow a moral law set forth by a holy book like Talmud etc than youmust simply recognize when you are trying to justify something. When you have to look for justifaction this is when you know your in the wrong. If justifaction is not there in front of you than it is not just. I hope that makes sense to you.

Great answer! I agree with a "second the motion" statement. I also think that being rich is not necessarily sinful as long as it is hard earned cash that you keep in your bank. What is sinful is the money is from illegal activities or acquired illegally. It is also a sin to win it thru gambling. Greed is another thing altogether. It is another sin, and one can be greedy without being rich. These are the people that always feel that he should have all the money in the world, regardless of what level financially he is in.

I dont think its a sin to be rich! I think once some one feels that they can get away with anything because there rich, you could sin along the way! Not all people will sin if there rich, but really who doesnt sin everyday?

I don't think it's a sin to be rich. I think it depends on the way one gets rich! If one gets rich by cheating or stealing or pulling somebody else down and make him bankrupt, that's far from being a fair way! If it is my working hard and have a growing business, that's not the same. This business will need some other workers to grow further, so new workers etc, that creats work, which is far from being bad. There are also some rich persons who do not know what to do with their money... If I were one of them, I think I would help the ones that need money to eat and to have a home. But that's on everybody's nature!

No, it's not a sin to be rich. It is a sin to make your money by taking advantage of others to their detriment but as long as your wealth is earned by your own efforts and the intelligence that God gave you, there is nothing wrong. Many people will say "Money is the root of all evil." but they are misquoting! The correct saying is: ========================================= THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL =========================================
