shopping addiction

Why should people go on a shopping spree? Buying things more than required, leads to cluttering of home, apart from puncturing the bank account. For some people it may be a physiological or psychological disease. This can't be true for all compulsive shoppers. OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorders)are enslaving citizens. How do you view this, particularly when we find citizens getting into a debt trap?
