Is google invading privacy??

All the people who have used gmail would have observed the fine ad print which comes over the mail box,surprisingly the ad speaks what we have been mailing .Like ,if i recieve a mail from my my friend who speaks about his flight and all,an ad comes up there regarding flight or flight companies.Are our privacy compromised for such advertising??? What do you people say??
