I think it is their best overall work. Some of the Music from eariler albums was/is excellant and trailblazing for what they did with their music telling a story and being more then just a song. But this is still their best overal body of work in my humble opinion.

I find some of the earlier work to be a little bit lost in direction, I'm thinking particularly of Ummagumma, though I do enjoy the 'Grand Viziers Garden Party@, and am a little disturbed by 'Animals'. I do feel I should stand up for 'The Dividion Bell' which I feel is more in keeping with the likes of the 'Dark Side' & 'Wish you were here'. Iy is really difficult to pick a single album out, as there is a tremendous amount of great music to pick from with the Floyd. Your humility is much appreciated, because I am smug, and over-opinionated far too often.LOL

is there anything of doubt ? i think it sales shows that how much this album is rated and the most important thing is that ... its a 60's album ... i think its released in the 60's or 70's and still , its cd's are all over the music stores and all people do listen its music ...i love pink floyd , one of the most mature band in its time , the music was unforgetable...i usualy listen its music at nights and lost in the dreams of beauty :)

It's one of the best album I've ever heard! Great! And the film is great too!!

I do think it's a great LP, but in the early 80s, a friend wired my video up to a tape recorder and we taped the complete soundtrack to the film version, and felt it was even better, with all the sound effects and voices. Obviously, you'll be aware the soundtrack is slightly different to the album (they were made 2 years apart), and I do think that the live versions of 'comfortably numb' allow more freedom, and time, for the guitar solo. All said, 'The Wall' is a true classic, in the true meaning of the word (not the overused 'hype' of today, where ever album is a classic upon release!)

the wall is seriously one of the best albums i have ever heard. The good thing is that they are not just songs - they carry such a political and moral undertone, especially songs like mother and the show must go on!

I like it... but not much. Certainly not anywhere near as much as Dark Side of the Moon. Nothing can compare to that album, in my opinion. It was just such a groundbreaking work.

The Wall is my personal favourite of the Pink Floyd albums. It has some great songs and good messages as well. Has anyone seen the film of this - I loved it but its a *little* depressing :P.

It's a great album for what it is, ie, one mans journey through depression and his eventual 'cure'. Musically it's brilliant, especially the live versions, but I think that politically it's outscored by Animals, with its biting satire of Thatchers Britain, Mary Whitehouse etc, and despite the depth of feeling in The Wall I think Wish You Were Here just pips it. Then again, I've been a Floyd fan since '67 (last century) and I miss Syd.
