Ok, probably not the most intriguing discussion on mylot, but every time i wash clothes some socks go missing, sometimes its only 1 or 2. I live alone so i know nobody is taking/hiding them so where could they be going? anyone else have this happen to them?

Yes, I have had it happen to me. I'm not at all sure where they go. Perhaps we dropped one somewhere and didn't realise, or perhaps they get trapped somewhere between the washing tub and the works... I don't know. Perhaps a good thing to do would be to put all your socks in a net, draw string bag, so that they can't separate in the wash?

This also happens to me a lot. I will put them in as pairs and not get all my pairs when done with laundry. I have decided that the washer is hungry and it likes to eat socks.

Yeah, this is a twilight zone mystery. I think the Dryer consumes them, I think that is what powers the heater, not the electric. I probably lose one sock every 2 to 3 weeks

The washer machine goonie snacks on them when your machine goes into the spin cycle.

You know for a long time I thought my dryer was addicted to eating socks. I came to realize that those little socks cling to the inside of shirts and pants. That's what makes it sooo hard to find them. I tried using one of those nylon bags for the socks but they didn't dry as well so now I just shake all the clothes really good and they appear.
