Does love turn into simple affection as years go by or even worse do couples just get used to each others company? I´m hopelessly romantic so I go for the first option.

One must describe love first. Physically, it is very strong when younger. However, emotionally and mentally, it is stronger as the years go buy. If the people are really in love, they still will continue to desire one another in many ways. I am married 30 years, and my husband and I are still very much in love. We still give gifts to one another for no special reason and write love notes to eachother at times. It is a deeper mature love now. On the other hand, there are a lot of couples that just stay married for convience, and are bored or used to eachother. That is sad. One must work at their marriage to keep it alive and happy. I hope this answer helped.

i'm a hopelessly romantic too and i believe in love getting stronger as years go by. but seriously, it actually depends on both party...both need to put in the effort to keep the romance there and not to take each other for granted.
