nine years in jail

I have just read an article on the web about a five year old little girl. She went to her parents and said that the old man who lived next door had raped her. Her dad then went next door and beat the old man to death. For this "crime" the judge gave the dad nine months in jail. My question is this: do you think that it was a crime for the dad to kill the old man for what he had done to his little girl and to prevent the old man from raping someone else?

I agree with kitty and the others. If we were to take the law into our own hands, the world would be a lot worse off than it is now. He should have thought of his daughter first, not revenge. And, as kitty said, it may not have even happened. Not saying that it didn't, it probably did. But we have a thing called, innocent until proven guilty; which are for the courts to decide. I would be very upset, though, if my son came and told me that something like that had happened to him.

I think he lost it and took the law in his own hands. It was a crime but one I'm not sure I would not have committed also. We cannot have everyone doing what he did or we would have a mess. There would be no control anywhere.
