Childbirth

I have had two children and both times were different. My first delivery took 9 hours and a hurricane to get me started, and my second took 42 weeks and still had to be induced! When I had my babies I felt like I just defeated an army and the most powerful person in the world. What were your experiences and or funny moments during childbirth and the terrible aftermath that your body goes through that none of the books tell you or prepare you for?

LOL this is a great topic! I won't go into TOO much detail but my favourite birth memory was during the birth of my third and last child, a daughter. I had been in labour for about 3 days, on and off, and I had been induced after day 2 of on-and-off contractions. Upon waking up after a three hour nap, numb from the boobs down (due to an epidural), I knew I was ready to push. For 40 minutes I pushed and pushed and I knew I wasn't getting anywhere, and it took some figuring, but I finally realized why. My girl was 'stuck' in my pelvic bone...her head literally wedged to one side. I remember feeling her little feet locked up underneath my ribs, and I very quietly pushed one of her little feet away, saying "Okay *name*, let's get going here..." All of a sudden, she moved her head... and she was coming...QUICK. I looked at my nurse Joni and said "She's coming, get the doctor." Joni looked at me and said "No she's not...stop pushing." I very calmly informed her that I had stopped pushing five mintues ago and I could FEEL her coming out. In disbelief, Joni looked and sure enough, the look on her face told me that *name* was indeed making a very rapid appearance. Buttons were pushed, doctor was paged and the doctor made it to the delivery room just in time to get ONE glove on with which she caught my beautiful eight pound, nine and one half ounce baby girl. Her older brothers were just as unique in their introductions to the world!!!

That was amazing!! I was reading my post and realized that I am missing some major details with my 2nd labor. I was in labor only 6 hours after they induced me. During my first labor I was only in labor 9 hours. (during both labors I am only counting when it started to hurt). It took hurricane Isabell to give me a push start! Is there any way that I can edit my posting or will I have to just start another post?

Well, I was in labor for 24 hours. It was a long long 24 hours. I wasnt prepared, I didnt know the lamaze techniques, and I was freaking out, screaming and everything. There was like 6 nurses and a few doctors in the delivery room trying to calm me down!!!
