The whole plot was amazing! My favorite thing is the fact that part of it was filmed in Upper Sandusky, OH and Mansfield, Oh. Some of my friends and my daughter's teachers are in some scenes. The courtroom scenes is the same courtroom I got my divorce in. Hmmm. The Mansfield Reformatory (an OLD prson)is the prison where some of the scenes were filmed.

The best part that I like in this movie is the change in Morgan Freeman's take of 'Hope'. He starts off with his view of 'Hope' as a very bad thing but as he sees Tim Robbins not only living for but also making his hope a reality, he ends up saying the best lines in the movie -' Hope is a very good thing. Probably, the best thing in the world.' For me this transition makes this movie a lifelong lesson.

I love the part when Red tells the parole officers like it is. After decades of trying to tell that what he thinks they want to hear, he tells them what he really thinks. I think that is the most powerful part of the movie, and I think it is the best part of the movie. It is also very ironic, considering that all those years he tried to tell them what they wanted to hear.

what I like the most in this movie is THE IDEEA on wich it's based on: an innocent man goes to prisson and spends many years there. he is an x-banker, so to make his time more easyer he helps the warden and the guards with their taxes and bank accounts. in the end, when no one expects it, he escapes from prisson, goes to "the secret tree", finds the diamonds wich have been stolen many years ago by the magician, and he starts to "build" his dream: hotels and a boat. Not longer after he escapes, his best friend from prisson gets out too, and they meet, and start the buisness. that's my opinion. i hope you like it.

Its the simple notion of not giving up and the spirit of hope. The entire movie is just awesome not only in the plot but the characters as well. The part where their friend who is on parole and hung himself in his rented room says so much about people wanting acceptance and a sense of belonging. It's just mind blowing how complex our human desires can be.
