this might clear ur doubhts "Device names such as COMx, CON or LPTx are reserved words, and they can't be used as folder or file names. There's also a patch released under Win 9x that plugged asecurity hole that allowed a malicious user to gain control of a remote machine because of the way Win9x parsed path names."

u said device names such as COMX,COM1,COM2,LPTX,LPT1,LPT2 all these are printer ports and unable to create such folder in windows... now here's a challenge can u create the same folder names in windows O/S.... with out entering into Dos r any other O/S.................... if it is so try to bet me.. its a challenge......

I am able to both create the folder and put files into it. I don't understand why you would not be able to create a folder with that name. The only reason I can think of for being unable to name a folder anything you want, with the exception of excluded characters that are not allowed, is if a folder of that same name exists where you are trying to make the new one. No two folders in the same location can have the same name. Can you be more specific of the error message you are getting and what exactly you are doing, as well as what kind of computer you are doing this on?

i agree to what u say with da same name we cant create two folders.. but with out using Dos prompt u need to create a folder on windows.im using windows xp.

In windowsXP it is not possible with word "con". I think if code page inside computer system can be changed then it is possible and it can by a programmer.

i got the solution : STEP1: goto command prompt step2 :md \\.\\c:\con step 3:dir c: step3 :rd \\.\\c:\con \\= It means we shoud switch out o the forlder m to compile all files

do not use Dos prompt ... it is easy with it. try another method..
