First, I don't watch the show. It's not a show I would put on to watch. My husband does, and that's how I get stuck watching it. It's about a girls sweet sixteen. The problem I have with it is every episode has these stuck up, b*tchy girls on it. These girls are only 16 and they are treating their parents and other like crap! What is wrong with these people!

I have seen this show and I am very bothered by it. I can't believe that parents let their children act like this - and even worse - on national TV. This show is sending a horrible message to our young people. Kids expect more out of their parents or have resentment because they don't get parties and presents like this.
My fiance's sister has to borrow money from us all the time to pay her bills - and we barely have it. But she is one of these parents that throws lavish birthday parties for her children. Sometimes they have three parties for the same birthday! Last year she had a petting zoo. The year before that a magician. Each year she keeps getting more extravagent. It's terrible because her kids expect it, she keeps doing it - and she can't afford to do it. Her son also is on his 8th cell phone - he loses them, drops them in pools etc. And she keeps buying him more expensive funs each time. He has several pairs of sneakers that cost over $100 each. He leaves them at the field where he plays sports all the time. He has all the video game systems... and even a laptop. He is 13 years old! He has a mini motorcycle too... and every year she buys him a brand new bike. He doesn't even have time for it because he is in so many sports. Her other son is 4 years old. You know what he got for Christmas? A cell phone - a mini motorcycle - and a digital camera just to name a few. He is four years old. You can barely understand him when he talks and none of his little toddler friends have cell phones. It's ridiculous! Why does he need his own phone? She bought it because he wanted one. And it's not even one of those Firefly phones they have for little kids. It's a regular cell phone. My fiance is so angry about that. If she is starting him off at 4 with these things what is he going to be like at 14?

I understand wanting to give your kids stuff, but that is too much. Parents need to also teach their kids that they can't always get what they want. My husband just keeps watching the show, hoping someone would put some of these girls in their place. I doubt that if that happened they would air it.

I didn't mean to double post but my hubby just told me one of the girls will inherit a chateau in France. That's cool. But here's the kicker. She says she idolizes PARIS HILTON because she too is an heiress! WTF? I can't see why anyone would idolize Paris Hilton!

I honestly don't think anyone is ever going to put them in their place.
I caught the end of one with a little rich boy that had hip hop artists come to his party - and then he was give a $350,000 car and he wasn't even old enough to drive yet. Sheesh.
And I think it's ridiculous that anyone idolizes Paris Hilton. I've seen some shows and she isn't as stupid as she makes herself out to be... but the fact that she makes herself out to be stupid is one of her biggest flaws as a role model. I know, I know, there are a ton of other flaws - but it's really annoying to me when smart girls pretend to be dumb and ditzy to get things out of people.

Your HUSBAND watches it?? That's interesting.
I can't stand it. I half-watched one episode with my nephew and his girlfriend. The girl's dad spent like $150,000+ on a birthday party and she was whining about the dumbest little details - crying & throwing tantrums.
All I can say is ... wealthy or not, ladies and gentlemen ... please spank your children when they need it. lol

I have seen commercials for it. It seemed like the girls were all snobby & conceited. That is not how I would choose to spend my time, watching them. They always have such an air of entitlement that it drives me nuts. Their parents let them get away with that behavior though.

I don't understand why anyone would want their children to act like this! It's disgraceful! And it drives me nuts. I've told my husband not to put it on while I'm in the room. Thanks for responding!
