It really makes me angry, my neice has a skin condition and from this she has spots all over her body. Yesterday it was so hot we took her and my son swimming well a ignorant lady sat there looking at my neice for 5 minutes and then she made a big deal and deal and made her children get out of the pool that my neice was in. It is not possible at all to catch this skin condition, it really makes me angry i would prefer if instead of overreacting someone actually came and asked us what it was, They can see that my son has no spots so obviously it cant be passed on!Heres some information about it for you all! Mastocytosis is a condition where your child has more than the normal number of mast cells in the body. Mast cells are found in everyone in the skin, gut (stomach) and air passages. Mast cells contain many different natural chemicals, a common one being histamine. A number of things can trigger or cause the mast cells to release these chemicals, including heat, rubbing and certain foods and drugs. In children with mastocytosis they release more chemicals than their body needs due to the extra mast cells. The chemicals can cause symptoms that range from very minor to severe. Mastocytosis can come on at any age, but the disease is different when adults get it. Children with mastocytosis usually get it in the first year of life. Children with mastocytosis usually have an increase in the number of mast cells in the skin only. It is very rare for children to have an increase in mast cells in other organs. In children who have mastocytosis only in the skin, it is most likely that it will go away. This may take many years. 7 out of 10 children can expect a major improvement by the time they are 10 years old.

Thank you for sharing this information with us. It is very unfortunate that some people will sit and stir in their ignorance. If they were concerned, they should have inquired to you about the condition and tried to have understand it. I am sure that you would have explained the situation to them.

You would think by now people would come to there senses. It is peoples reactions like this especially parents that continues racism in this world. Racism is not just about skin color but the differences in another. I have a nephew with Downs syndrome and we get reactions like this all the time. I think the worst is when people have the audasity to tell you how awful they feel he has this. Why? He is a perfectly healthy little boy most of the time. Sure he had open heart surgery at the age of 3 months and he may not be as smart as another child his age. There are children his age 7 that are not as smart as he is and they have never been sick a day in their life. When will adults take responsibility for there overreaction to the differences in others and lead by example for their children and other children around them? My nephew is in public school and the teachers have no problem with him and his learning ability. He is very well behaved, runs, plays and enjoys life. How do you react to others you see that are different than you?
