you can buy cat removal brushes dirt cheap from a local pet shop??? well we can in the UK i dont know where you are based... otherwise any stiff brush will catch the hair and grab it in the brush (preferably stiff with close bristles)

Hi there...consider a product called Zoom Groom which not only is for brushing cats, but works unbelievably well at lifting fur off of clothes, furniture and carpeting. The pointed brush side works fine on the pets but it's the back side the rubber when misted lightly with water magically pulls fur off in a couple sweeps. The cat Zoom Groom works fine, however the back side doesn't have enough rubber surface so the the Zoom Groom for dogs brush is more effective, but still also can be used to brush cats.
We use this on our exotic cats who shed buckets of fur in the spring and summer season when losing their winter coats and the fur ends up on us and everything else. After we finish grooming them we turn the brushes backwards..mist some water on them and clean up ourselves.

My pleasure! We found this out purely by accident out of all the other products we've used to lift pet fur off our furniture, carpeting and clothing...this product worked the best surprisingly.

I have two cats. A long hair and a short hair. The shedding makes my eyes swell and I keep sneezing. You can use tape to lift up the hair on the furniture and clothes. You can buy a roll of lint remover that is sticky and will do the job. You can also buy a mitt from Walmart, Target, or the pet store. It works very good. I tried all of these.

I put slip covers over my sofa and loveseat. Then I wash them every week. Just make sure they are thick and durable, and can stand up to washing. I got mine on Ebay. It is great because when I have friends over, right before they get here, I take off the slip covers and put them away and I have a hair free couch! For my clothes, I use cheap lint rollers (the kind that are like a roll of masking tape) You can get these at Kmart.

I also use slipcovers on all my furnature. I wash them about twice a week. I bath my cats every other week also. I have found that if I use bounce on my clothes when I wash them, the cat hair dont stick to my clothes as much.

I used a damp sponge to clean up cat hair and dog hair, of course it is manually intensive, but it works and that is what counts and cheaper then tape.

When the cats were shedding we would turn on the vaccum and vaccum the cats we did this since they were little so they knew what was going on and plus brushing them often will keep the hair down. But to get the cat hair off we would roll duct tape backwards on our hands and dab at the hairs and change it often to get them all but vaccum furniture really good with a brush head attachment and it will get alot of it. also using a air filled balloon sometimes works we found this out after my little sister was playing with her rubbing her head to see her hair stick up and ours.lol and when it fell we picked it off the couch and it came back full of cat hair..don't forget though you have to rub he balloon on your hair first. Also a laundry sheet might work rub it on your couch and it might attract the hairs.

The best way to remove cat fur from furniture is a good vacuum cleaner. If you don't have a working vacuum cleaner around than I would dampen a cloth with some water and use it to remove the cat fur from the furniture. They also have sticky roller brushes which you can use for your clothes or you could throw the clothes in the washer. To help with this shedding problem I brush my cats twice a week--it seems to help with the fur and keeps their coat healthy.

I was trying to be frugal and using vinegar in my rinse cycle of my washer. I found that cat hairs were beginning to stick like crazy to my clothes. I switched back to Downy and now they dont seem to stick as bad.
The only think that I have found that takes the cat hair off my furniture is the vacuum cleaner. I use covers on all my furniture also.

We are a multi-cat household, so cat hair is definitely a continual challenge.
The best method that I have found for removing cat hair from furniture is putting on a pair of regular every-day rubber gloves and wiping the hair from the furniture. It clumps up into little balls and is then easily removed. This also works for removal of hair from clothing. You will find that this is a very fast method of removing the hair.
