Would you move to get medical care for your child?

Would you move to another state if they offered better health care for one of your children? Give up your friends, your church, your kid's friends and school? My son has developmental disabilities and the health care for his problems are very poor in our state. The next state over has a brand new, state of the art medical clinic for kids with problems like his, including a summer camp. It's too far away to just make regular trips, it's about 450 miles away.
It's a big decision to make, I'm wondering what others in the same position would do.

I have a daughter with many medical conditions and I have to drive 200 miles several times a month, sometimes as much as 3 times a week. If it meant better health care for my children I would move in a heartbeat. Best of Luck, I hope things get better for you.

Thank you. We live an hour from the children's hospital, and it was closed for several months due to hurricane Katrina, which made things really hard. If we do make this move, we'll be much closer to the children's hospital in that state.

Providing for our children is the most important job we have in our lives. If your son isn't recieving what he needs from the state you are currenlty residing in, you should consider moving. That is of course that you are able to leave behind all you know. Personally I do not think I could have made such a move. Single-parenting is tough when you are raising 4 kids. Doing it without the support of family and friends would have been extremely difficult.

I'm a single parent too. My ex is here, but not very involved in their lives, and my family is all in the neighboring state where the clinic is. So it would be a huge move, but we would actually be moving back to the place where I grew up, not an entirely new town.

If I wasn't getting it in my country I would deffinatly more to another country to get it. My child ( when I have one) will be the most important thing in my life. I will do anything to keep them healthy and safe.
