Lately, my doctor told me that my blood preesure is high. He ask to control my weight and the way I live. For your information I'm 35yrs old. But during my teenage, I also eat so much but my blood pressure is still normal. It is due to my pressure at office or due to my age. Anybody experienced this situation? How you all controlled your blood pressure? Any alternative medicine such as herbal other than modern medicine that I can use to control? My doctor says if blood pressure is not control it can affect my kidney.

As people above have stated, as we age our bodies start getting revenge on us for not taking care of them in the past. It happens with everything, eating anything and everything, even sun tanning, look how many people get lovely cancer once they get older...it's called the body's revenge, and it blows if you ask me. My mother has high blood pressure and diabetes and did NOT take care of it for several years. Her BP was VERY high (not sure what range but everyone said it was very high). Had she taken care of this stuff during the time she was diagnosed she probably would not have suffered a heart attack just 2 months ago. Again, the body's revenge for not taking care of it. We all have our bad habit and must learn how to either correct them, or take supplements (in your case) to ease the problem before it gets worse. If you control yourself with regular ol' med they can be quite effective, if not more, than herbs. My mother too plenty of herbs throughout her life and it didn't fix a darn thing. Take the medicine your doctor prescribed until you can get either more physically fit or get a new diet. If you learn about a new herb, try it for a while and see how it goes, you lose nothing, really, if you prefer to take herbal remedies instead. But the main thing is to STAY ON TOP OF IT. Please don't slack, take care of it. After seeing my mother going to the hospital with all her health issues the whole concept of "eating anything you want" seems menial to living a long healthy life. Good luck!

There are several factors that play roles in high blood pressure. Age may be a factor, but keep in mind that age is not always a cause. My 5 month old daughter has had high blood pressure for awhile, but she has been hospitalized since birth for NEC and there are other factors that also plays roles in her high blood pressure. Stress is another factor. And to clarify there is stress we are more aware of than others, stress to get home & have dinner ready, stress to have a bi project completed on time, stress to make up for down time we had due to the flu. A lot of these we put on ourselves. Other stress factors are a bit beyond our control, but not our management. A neccessary, life saving surgery, leaves the body in pain (MAJOR stresscom contribuator), but pain medications can ease the pain & help reduce the stress. (The was part of my daughters case). In situations of long term hospitalizations, broviacs, or central lines may be inserted in a main artery & the invasion of a needle into your body w/o immediate removal (I'm talking MONTHS upon MONTHS here, my daughters had one for 5+ months) can cause stress upon the body & could lead to high blood pressure. Some more common causes include diet. What you eat greatly affects your body. High in fat food could lead to not only obesity, (although some people don't put on the weight like others), but also contributes to high blood pressure (even in lean people!).Eating healthier foods & more fruits & veggies can help. One of the most important & influencial(sp?) factor I think is GENETICS. Genetics determines our hair & eye color, our body type, our height, it also pre-disposes us to certain illnesses, including cancer, diabetes, and high blood pressure to namea few. There is not much one can do about genetics other than look up your familiy history & take preventative measures in other areas I have listed above (or the ones you have control over). Being aware can help you avoid other factors, and if you share your family history with your Doctor he/she can have a heads up on what to look out for. Of course there are other factors that can contribute to high blood pressure, I have not listed them all. Anyone & everyone please feel free to add more causes below me. :)

Blood pressure go higher is no relation to what and how many you eat, it is relation to your age and your body health situation. If you young or keep enough body exercise, everything will be OK.

Jiminy I responded but I guess I forgot to sign in and it disapeared...anyways as I was saying ...I am sorry to hear about yer blood pressure. Mine is high also I take hydrochlorathiazide 12.5 mg. I kinda lost ya and think ya may have a typo...what about yer teenage years? I don't know what yer job is or your height frame and weight but being over whats said to be healthy can mean more work for your heart. I don't believe there are any herbs that can help. more often then not you here of herbs raising blood pressure. There is a diet called the DASH diet and it has been proven thru studies to improve blood pressure equal to that of medications. You can look it up on line as for the kidney damage yer kidneys filter waste and if the blood vessels become damaged they won't work as efficiently. Also Dr. Dean Ornish has a program available on CD for reversing heart disease it was a UCSF study and showed evidence of reversal thru dietary and some other changes in lifestyle. It has 4 CD's Deep Relaxation, Guided Imagery, Meditation and Relax Move and Heal. They are great alternatives also. Good luck

Yes,try to control your weight.Do not change your diet suddenly.Keep a track of how many calories u r consuming and how many calories are burned in ur daily routine.Slowly, change the high calorie food into low calorie foods, choose from a list of food which u like. For eg.fruits and vegetables are healthy foods and contain less calories compared to junk food.Relax ur mind thru YOGA,meditation. Also, ask ur doctor, the cause of ur blood pressure or is it essential hypertension.

as you are already found to be hypertensive, the best way for you to do is to have your blood pressure regularly monitored. have someone in the family taught on how to chech BP as this is a procedure that can be learned easily. we do this at home because a lot of my relatives are hypertensive. aside form monitoring, you should modify your lifestyle. identify what causes you too much stress and find ways to alleviate those. one more thing, check out the food that you eat. you should avoid salty and fatty foods as these are no no in your case. refrain from smoking as well if you do. actually, a hypertensive person could still enjoy a normal life so long that you get to follow doctor's advice.

Along with medications you can practice to meditate daily for some time and try to do that in early morning or at a point if you feel very angry or pressured then just close your eyes and meditate. It is difficult initially to divert the mind to something else, but my inlaws had and with the practice of yoga she feels very free and happy.
