I have two monk parrots that are really smart. They can dance and talk and say quite a few things. Does anyone else know anything about parrots?

We have two macaw parrots. Jabba is a blue and gold and Yoda is a scarlet. Jabba is about 2 1/2 years old and Yoda is 1 1/2. Yoda came to us already saying "I love you" and Jabba has learned many words and short sentences. You can tell he's getting rowdy when he goes "Ready?" and starts his bobbing dance. At least he lets you know before he attacks! I am trying to teach them to say "Yankees suck" but so far have had no luck. Any hints?

If you make it fun for them, it helps. I turn on music and bob my head up and down and dance, they copy the head bobing up and down easily and will dance. They do love music and you will find they are responsive to it. They do not like it too loud.

Hi there! I raise Quakers too. They are really smart parrots. I like the size of them too....not too big and not too small! My breeders all talk. It's fun to walk in the Aviary and hear them all start to jabber.

I agree with you. Its alot of fun to listen to them because mine are show offs. They love the attention and will preform for an audience very quickly.Yesterday , the male was holding the food for the female while she ate. SOMETIMES she pecks him in the head and gets on to him, and she acts like a real wife...lol

I have two cockatiels and also row parrots. Some people cannot have these parrots because they are illegal in some states. It takes special love with these birds and they are interactive much like children and require a great deal of attention. They are not low maitence pets. I love mine and work with them daily.

My wife has 2 African Grays, a Scarlet Macaw, a Blue and Gold Macaw, 2 breeding pair of Cape Parrots (endangered in the wild), a Rosella (bright red Australian grass parakeet), an Eclectus Parrot, and 12 Amazon Parrots of assorted species. The Macaws and African Grays are great conversationalists, but one of the Amazons does a perfect imitation of our cat's meow.

Its amazing how smart they are. My parrots can bark like the dogs. If you ask them wheres the cry baby? they will go waa waa and they do dance the boogie woogie. They are one of the greatest joys in our lives and I spoil them rotten. They also know when you are cooking and eating and will ask you for a bite. Someone told me they dont know what they are saying, I dont agree with that. I have a nipper who will bite me and then laugh.

Ive have a parakeet, conure, pionus, african grey and about 20 lovebirds. all are family members and loveable, cuddle and friendly..except for the lovebirds!...since there are so many of them they are in an aviary on the back porch. im not intentionaly raising/breeding them, but they are good at it on their own! lol My pionus has "freak out" moments and the conure will whisper "hush hush its ok" until she calms down, yells hello at ppl when they visit or, unfortunatly, when they call on the phone! the grey has a few words but prefers sounds..the bomb exploding, barking, toilet flushing (of all things!) and the most annoying is the little beep noise the answering machine makes when there are messages! that one drives us all nuts! but they are my babies!

someone said to me, they do not know what they are saying that it is only mimikicking. I do not believe that not with my parrots. He will bite me sometimes and then laugh right after he does it. He is very mischievious.
