My sister boyfriend gave her a Christmas gift for Christmas, her financies were low and since they were having a problem she only brought him a card. Well, yesterday they had an argument, and he is asking for his Christmas gift back. He said she should of brought him a gift even a pair of socks instead of the card. This is not the first time he has requested gifts back, everytime there is a disagreement he ask for his stuff back. I think he is cheap, and not marriage material. I can't understand why you give a gift only to ask for it back. Can someone shed a light on this? I donot get his behavior.

He is cheap, spiteful, and childish. He obviously thinks that he should always have his way as a sign of true love. I certainly hope she never gives anything back to him and cumps him after this last spat. Later, after marriage, he could escalate to being physically abusive, he has all the signes of being a reall danger when he has no gifts to demand be returned!

Once you give someone a gift, it doesn't belong to you anymore. So he has no right to ask for it back. I agree with you, he is definitely not marriage material. He sounds like he is not only cheap, but also selfish.

Your sister's boyfriend obviously doesn't know the meaning of the word "gift." A gift should have no obligations or strings attached. When people say they "exchange gifts" at Christmas time or whenever, it negates the whole meaning of the word. Exchange, implies an obligation, so it isn't really a gift.

I agree with you that was my sentiment. Thank you.
