"Without a College Degree You have Nothing"

Is it really necessary to have a college degree? How important is a college degree to you? A college degree is a ticket to a better job. A college degree is a pre-requisite to a successful life and career. The higher the degree you have, the more successful you will be. OR... A college degree is just a piece of paper.

I think a college degree is just a piece of paper. But that piece of paper is very important to a lot of businesses. Good jobs nowadays want a four-year degree as well as experience. A degree isn't enough to be successful because with all the general education classes you have to take, you really don't learn much about your subject because you're taking useless classes instead. It's supposedly to make you a more "well-rounded" person, but who knows. I don't necessarily think a college degree is everything. Personality tends to matter a lot too, because being charismatic in certain jobs will take you a lot farther. I think it is easier to obtain a job with a college degree and often times the person with the degree will get a job over another person whose applying for the same position even if they have more experience. All-in-all I think it depends on the job and the interviewer.

Well...to me this statement is hard to answer with black and white answers..so I say yes and no the this discussion. Yes, a college degee is a piece of paper...but to receive that piece of paper you have to learn some valuable life skills along the way. Education is not just about the things we learn in books..it also involves developing self-dicipline, concentration, goal-setting and goal-getting, learning how to be your own person, become a critcal thinker. So I think college education or any other form of learning has a lot to do with how you apply what you learn. Knowledge without application will leave you with yes...a piece of paper and no job. Life is all about choices...and their consequences. It is an unavoidable reality we all have to accept sooner or later.

Degrees - Degrees to have or not to have
I always recommend to kids to stay in school. To get that degree. I know the job I retired from you now have to have one to work there. I went to work at the hospital right out of high school and worked my way up. But now days yes it is very important to get a really good job. But I do find that sometimes a person with experience can get the job over someone that has a degree. Just depends on who is hiring and what they are looking for.

A college degree is something that can never be taken away from you. However, it is certainly no guarantee that your life will be successful financiallly or any other way. That strictly depends on you, the person inside, and how ambitious, creative, motivated, determined, persistant, ethical and focused you are. I could apply many other adjectives, as well.....but, having said all that, I say ' Go for It '

A college degree is very important today, expecially in some countries and for some jobs. I study electronic engeneering, maybe more 'cause it's necessary a college degree than 'cause I like it.

College does not teach wisdom. Intelligence and wisdom are two different things. To have wisdom is whats important in life. Some people I know, they're degree has landed them a good job. Others it has not helped. But by all means follow your heart!!!!

Actually its not that important in my family. My husband is an engineer for the csx railroad and has never went to college. I took a break from my part time sales job because of daycare issues. I dont have a degree but was making anywhere from 2-3 grand a month. I miss the money but my children are more important to me. I relized daycares just want your money and will continue to let uncivilized children tortue and bully others so I pulled my children out. I work at home for a lot less but I am still recieving some money from my last job because of its matrix tree. That job was comm. only which alot of people are scared to do. My youngest is 3 and I will return once she is in school. So my life is pretty great with out a college degree.

It depends on the type of work you want to do. If you want to get a job that requires a degree then a degree would be very important

college degree is just a piece of paper and no matter what it sais on it...in moast cases it's not true...cuz people get college degrees in every way possible...even if they don't deserve it...they lie, cheat and that's how they get it...moast of 'em...just a few deserve it and that few can make it in this life without that paper anyway...the people who don't deserve it are the "born-rich" kids who just don't want to be a shame for their family name so they buy their way in...that's life...love it or leave it...lol...so I think you would live a lil harder without that paper...but what matters is that you did what you wanted to do with yo life...not just to impress someone or just for the fact that yo afraid of being judged by yo friends that have that paper...anyway...I'm talkin non-sense here so I'm 'a stop:P...say no to rutine and live yo life the way you want it...cuz it's so short...you won't even see it get by you...peace out...

yes, sometimes a college degree is so important that without it we cannot find a job... but actually college degree is just a piece of paper... but people with college degree do have something different from others because learned more knowledge. But it doesn't necessarily indicate that a man with a college degree will surely become a successful man...

Having a Degree is a first step to a success in any job, in india most of the undergraduates comes under group of workers. Earlier Diploma engineers were used to be appointed as Senior Engineer or DGM's. But now a days they are only appointed as supervisors or tradesman. That made me to go for graduation (As i was a diploma engineer earlier). Now i am bout to finish my degree and having a desire to apply for Masters too. More education you have, more upper grade you get. So, it is must for everyone to be a graduate at least. That will guarantee you a secure seat in any kind of job.
