i love playing chess. i played with my friend who is quite new to this game. but she was able to play better than me.it was me who taught her that game and in a short time she was able to play much better than me. so deos that mean that one's intelligence is mroe important???

in starting practice then intelligence....if u r good player of chess...u shud know this...means first we shud learn good steps...means how to mate by two elephants and which single step will mate the game like...if u know all chals then for to beat next one u need inelligence too....means practice will make intelligence more sharpe...r u getting me....

well yeah i get u . but i think intelligence means ur ability to think. like if we r once aware of a certain type of play then if we stick to it and try to win then i think it is not inteliegence but jus practise. if we r able to play in any new set up in chess then i think we r intelligent.

well intelligence is quite important in chess but through constant practice only u can bcome a good player. experience does count in every game not only chess.

I think it needs intelligence and more practise. Of cause you just play it for fun, don't mind it, just play. I never play it, but I see the other people do that, they say that is diffcult game and need a lot of practise. Maybe someday I will learn to play it, just for fun :-)

Yes, intelligency of the player plays role while playing chess. But Intelligency and practise goes side by side.Wise player think better while playing. Practise actually plays role to enhance intelligency.More important here is intelligency rather than practice.

A combination of both obviously. A very intelligent chess player will never win when he hasn't practiced a lot. And of course for a dumb person practicing won't help him in winning from the best...

upto my concern chess game is a game which test out intelligence...... it is completly independent from experience..... so u better give more importance to thinking while playing with ur friend.....

Playing chess requires strategy and logic. You should plan every move you make at 2 to 3 steps ahead of your opponent.
