An older person who is overweight can do anything that anyone else can do. Being overweight and older does not necessarily equate to being disabled. Plenty of overweight seniors are extremely active, and this is actually good for them. People need to change their biases against the elderly and the overweight.

I used to be a swim teacher, and I can tell you, that anyone can swim, as long as they put their mind to it. As a matter of fact, many handicapped people that had leg problems would come to our pool, because it had a hydraulic chair to set you into the water, and then they could swim and stretch their limbs. And many of them were old and fat, but they were great swimmers!
