How to have proper care with dogs???

It's my hobby to take care of dogs...I have a dog, 5 yrs old now. I really love him much. His name is "Bruce". He's really a sweet, demanding dog. I love taking care of him. I don't know if I have a proper care or it isn't enough to care for him. What do you think?

daily walks, maybe even twice a day.
If the dog is making a mess inside the house (trash digging, chewing on furniture, etc), maybe more attention is needed.
Try to brush the dog daily, and wash it weekly.
(i take care of dogs at a pet shelter and had a dog)
