My wife and I finally bought a new house and we purchased the lot next door so we could start a garden. As a kid growing up we had a garden but my memories don't include anything more than they made me weed it. :) I and my wife want to start this correctly. We live in Canada and have excellent summers. Our soil is a bit like clay if that helps you help us. Thanks for your comments.

The biggest problem my wife and I have had with a garden is the rabbits and deer. These two animals can and will eat more of your vegtables than you do if you let them. We found a dog and a fence are the best solution. Place the fence around the garden. If you can afford it, make the fence include more than just the garden. This is because at night, you leave the dog inside the fence guarding the garden and you want him to have room to roam.

Woof Woof, just saying hi to your dog. :) We live right in the middle of our city so we don't get too many rabbits or deer your idea is still a great idea but it might be a good deterent for the teens roaming around in the dark. Thanks for your response.

The only advice I can give is water early in the morning or late at night when the sun isn't out but you probably know that already. Oh I envy you. My parents had a huge garden when I was growing up. They had everything. I'm in Canada too. Good Luck I hope it yields you tons of food.
