only for practical reasons, I think 2 will be enough, a boy and a girl. What do you think?

I think the answer to your question is dependent upon the circumstances of the couple and what they consider to be an ideal family size for them.
What you may consider "practical" is truly a matter of choice and a very personal decision.

in todays economic climate i think two children is fine, as the British aristocracy used to say what is ideal is an aire and a spare

I like the way you put it. When I was in London years back I don't remember seeing a family of more than 5 children especially the young families. I'm sure there are but amongst my friends they all share the same idea that 2 is the best. I appreciate your reply. Thank you very much.

Good! you seem to be a very optimistic person, always sees the bright sides of life. When I started my family, we agreed on two, now that they are both grown ups, my wife said to me, we should have decided to have 4.
