I was in the adult entertainment industry for a total of 15-16 yrs, 12 of those yrs were stripping...When I started out in 87 dancing was still very much a sexy thing, we did proper themed shows, we were still slightly peek a boo-ish which was raved about....then in the mid 90's lapdancing became legal and popular and once that started, strippers werent doing shows anymore they were hopping on stage, walking around and showing off their liver and as time's on the worse its got...one of the key reasons to my retirement actually... What happened to REAL dancing? I'm goin way back here to the 1920's through the 1970s...when it was Burlesque..I dont think you can get any sexier than that..with dancers like Mamie Van Dorne, Sherry Britton, Sally Rand, Josephine Baker, Gypsy Rose Lee, Bettie Page, Lili St.Cyr, Julie Newmar and so on....The closest you can find to that now (that I know of) is Dita Von Teese and the Suicide Girls (both of which i am a fan of btw).... Do you think bringing back that sort of dancing would work? Not in replacement to the clubs of today but in addition to..

Burlesque is an art that is not as popular as it was back in the day. People want to see more and get it. I think they may have a chance, but with so many clubs offering a full view, why would someone pay for a tease. Burlesque is tasteful, I feel that many have gone numb when it comes to tasteful art.

Isn't the trick in the presentation? Finding a new road?

I think it would be great to bring that back. Isn't that kind of like what the Pussycat Dolls do? I don't know a lot about them so I'm not sure.

the Pussycat Dolls basically started out as a burlesque act (I believe that Carmen Electra and Denise Richards amongst others did stints with them), before settling on their current line-up and recording music....one of my wifes fave music acts BTW

HEY PRETTY LADY!! CP has been SO SLOW lately....I still pop in but I'm loving it here...btw online dance lessons are now available LOL ;-) just kidding.... Burlesque really isnt that hard to learn truth be told...its all in appreciating yourself as a woman and realizing your natural sensuality which sadly so many women today dont ya know...I had actually talked to some friends at another forum about teaching classes and what they thought of it..everyone was all for it but I never put it into play, though I still might because the idea thrills me to no end!

OMG, one of my favorite movies of the 1980's was "Flashdance." Every single charactor in that film could dance. And it was for the show that the crowds came. The stripping was just a bonus. I think if real dancing was brought back to the clubs, it would be a higher class of patronage again. Women would come back to the clubs. The Exotic Dancing profession would be classy again.

oh wow. now tell you what, I'd love to get into Burlesque dancing. I love the style and the glamour and the beauty of it. you can do pole dancing classes near where I live, and while that sounds like it would be fun to do, the style doesn't really appeal. a Burlesque class and I'd be right down there. hehe. I adore Dita. I find her extremely beautiful, love how she looks and dresses, and when you see pictures of her naked, rather than feeling inadequate, it makes you see your self in the same light. you hold yourself like that in front of a mirror and you find yourself beautiful. I think there's something very empowering about Burlesque and I'd love to get into it. to Quote Janet Weiss "God bless Lily St. Cyr"

I know they have Ballroom dancing, where we live, and did you watch dacning with the stars that was a great show, I would look forward to watching that every week. I would like it if I took a class in ball-room dancing, seems like it would be fun. woouldn't you like it?

I think it could very well be an addition to the current dancing as there would be legion of people who are tired of T and A and enjoy putting a little mystery back into the game.

well it wud be better to bring back that old style of dancing .. i think the true seduction lies inthe optimu, exposure of skin.. bare all is also not that seductive and covered all is definately not seductive at all.. so a right extent make the right effect

Burlesque is gaining popularity or, at least, becoming more visible in Montreal with venues like Club Soda and Club Sin hosting events. There are some local folks like "Mlle Oui Oui Encore" working to get the information out through websites like http://www.bluelightburlesque.com and there is another local name, Chastity Chevy (http://www.chastity.ca), that seems to be making a splash. There was a big article about burlesque in our newspaper around the holidays because there were some shows taking place and they seemed to be a hit with a real cross-section of the public. I think there's a place for this, as you said, in addition to whatever other clubs are out there. Of course, some people say that Quebec has a different mindset about the adult entertainment industry than some other places... but still...
