genetics play a big role with our health. once our health history states we have lots of relatives that have the disease like hypertension, diabetes, cancer, etc. we need to take note and watch our lifestyle which inclues our diet, exercise, etc. Although the specific genes that contribute to high blood pressure have not yet been isolated, it is known that genetic factors contribute to approximately 3 in 10 cases of hypertension. Aside from the qualitative genetic predispositions that put individuals at an increased risk for hypertension, the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system is thought to be implicated in the development of hypertensive conditions in the body, and current research is focused upon genetic influencers of this cascade. However, it is also possible to look at this issue of what causes hypertension from another angle - people from the same culture or the same family tend to have similar lifestyle and dietary habits, so it may not be genes which are the main culprit, after all.

Lifestyle is the major component. Living healthy ie: fitness and diet are very important. However, no-one has a crystal ball. All I can tell you is that I developed it 6 years ago. Both of my parents are on medication , and my brother. So , I would say yes to genetics.

I don't know more about...It is important to take steps to keep your blood pressure under control. The treatment goal is blood pressure below 140/90 and lower for people with other conditions, such as diabetes and kidney disease. Adopting healthy lifestyle habits is an effective first step in both preventing and controlling high blood pressure. If lifestyle changes alone are not effective in keeping your pressure controlled, it may be necessary to add blood pressure medication
