Do plants have spirits?

I was just thinking about plants. I don't necessarily believe plants have spirits, but they seem like an enigma to me. They grow, they die, they exist. If they don't have spirits, why are they not like every other living organisms?

Well, supposedly they respond to music. Also, there was controvertial research in the 60's where polygraph galvanic response receptors were attached to plants. Supposedly, plants gave a response to certain people, especially people who were kind or mean to them. None of it ever proved anything to most people's satisfaction. Still, the research was done. Who knows what it all meant? Maybe plants really are not that different except for being rooted in one place.

L. Ron Hubbard, science fiction writer and the founder of Scientology, used to 'listen' to plants. There's a photo of him with a serious look on his face, wearing headphones that are connected to a tomato plant.

They don't have spirits. We don't have spirits. Nothing does. The idea that there is a ghost animating all matter is superstitious and silly in my book. When we die, we die all over. At least, we have no reason to believe otherwise. As far as purpose is concerned, we all evolved. It was not an intended or planned thing, so none of us have purpose accept what we make for ourselves.

ok, regardless of what you call it, spirit or not, what is the difference between an inanimate object and one that lives? Do plants have that quality or not? If so, why are they different than other "living" animate objects?

We talk to them too and some people swear that helps them grow better. I guess the argument could be made that they do not have personality. But I'm not sure of that. I've got a contrary little guy here that grows whatever way he wants regardless of how I angle him in the sun. To me that indicates a very stubborn little personality. I guess we just have to look on plants as a very low form of life so we have something left to eat.

Life is complicated and talking about whether a plant has a spirit is also very complicated... i dont' think anyone really understand what a spirit is and who or what has them... maybe plants do have spirits, but are they on the same level as the human spirit? its all not understood and i think its just one of the biggest mysteries of life
