I've been an avid gardener for many years but my knowledge lies mostly with perrennials. This year I've been noticed trees (about 15'-20' tall) that has shed it's leaves but maintains clusters of small red berries. It's very striking against the snow! I live in NE Ohio; can someone tell me what these might be? Thanks.

There's an American Cranberry that is, I believe, a shrub but it can grow to about 15' or so... I looked it up and it is native to Ohio, but I don't know if it loses its leaves. One of my other guess would be a Hawthorn of some kind. I will have to keep looking! :)

I think that is very well may be a holly tree. These usually have little sticker things that are sharp on the edge of the leaves. Not positive, but this could be it.
