Do your children still do chores around the house for you?

Thinking back, I did a lot more chores when growing up than my kids ever did. I used to ask them to help with things like wiping up and putting the dishes away, dusting, and folding laundry on the weekends, as well as keeping their rooms clean and tidy. Do you make your children do chores for their pocket money?

I have no children home with me now. But, when I did, she had to do some chores. Some for an allowence, and some to learn responsablities.

Yeah, my girls have daily responsibilities and for doing those they get an allowance. For each task not finished, they take a deduction. If they decide they don't want to do it and maybe have the sibling do it for them, then they pay their sibling out of their money. It sounds harsh, but my girls love it. When they get paid on Friday, they are so darn proud of themselves. They are only getting a $1.00 a day, but you would think it's a $100.00.

I did not offer monetary rewards for chores. Cleaning the house should be the duty of everyone who lives in the house. It should not be the responsibility of one person. If the child does extra chores that are not what they normally do, rewards can be an option.

My children are all grown up and married. However, when my grandchildren come to vist, they love to do chores, and I don't even have to ask them. They will even do some light shopping, tidy the bedrooms and make snacks for me. I must admit, my daughter tells me that they will not do any chores in their own home.
