Days Twisted View of Child Custody

My husband and I have become unfortunate experts in the child custody system. I am so amazed at how Days has a twisted view of child custody--like everything else.
It may have been a minor point...but it irked the heck out of me that Lexie tried to hide her affiar with Tek because she thought she'd lose custody of Theo. It would take a heck of a lot more than that for a court to take her child away in the real world.
And now this storyline with Philip getting custody of Claire. Belle and Shawn would have to be crack addicts before they turn a child over to the stepfather of one year. Granted...he who has the biggest legal funding has an advantage in court but even daddy sleeping wiht a hooker and having a sketchy work history isn't enough. Hope at least said it right in saying they won't take a biological child away from its parents but...um....sorry for the spoiler but Philip will get custody.
Ok...and even if Victory "buys" it for him...what about Belle's daddy John. He may be in a coma, but can't Marlena scoop up some money out of his accounts to go head to head with Victor.
While this storyline is dramatic--a little too far from reality. If my husband and I lived in Salem, his kids would most definitely be living with us.

This story line makes me so angry. Belle is a very good mother, I don't see any reason for them to take Claire from her. Watching the day that CPS showed up to take Claire made me want to hug my daughter all the tighter. I wouldn't have been so calm (granted Belle wasn't really calm). I would have been raising all heck. I wanted to smack that case worker.
Philip does get custody? How? He's not even her biological father AND he's covered like a mummy due to burns. I'll be very sad if you're right =(

Yea honey...I'm sorry but it looks like Philip wins. Rumor has it that he will turn all evil and Victor like. I"m actually looking forward to it. The Philip that is coming back is my favorite one and I'm so psyched. He was the one that was soooo obsessed with Chloe. Kyle Brandt was the WORST actor. I can't believe he went from the Real World to a major soap role o Days. Sooo glad he is gone!

I know it is just TV but come on. This story is rediculous. I am not asking for pure realism (it is a Soap Opera) but make the story more believable.

Unfortunately, Philip has a few things going for him.
#1 - He is Claires LEGAL father. His name is on the birth certificate and Shaun dropped the ball on that one - he should have restarted adoption proceedings as soon as Philip skipped town. When he dropped the original claim he really lost some points.
#2 - Kiriakas money. Of course, I don't know why Shaun isn't dipping into his trust fund (he's definitly not using it for college!!!) or some of that smackola he got from EJ???? Hope has access to lots of cash - as well as a good lawyer, where's Uncle Mickey??? Belle has access to tons of cash - not just John's money but Marlena is loaded too!!!
Yeah, you just gotta wonder how they come up with this stuff - but you know what??? I'll be watching it tomorrow!!!!

As usual, Days takes the cake for unrealistic storylines. Yet we keep watching! It is so compeltely far fetched that CPS would take Claire away from them. I've known of kids in truly horrific living conditions who still ended up with their parents after a legal battle. It would take a heck of a lot more than a hooker and a picture of a kid sitting in a tire to get her taken away!!
