Pen Pals and Snail Mail

Before there was E-mail, I had a lot of pen pals. I lost most of them when the Internet made communication cheaper and the price of stamps kept going up and up. Sometimes I wonder where all of my pen pals ended up. Well, today I got a long phone message from a pen pal I hadn't heard from in 10 years. She found me on the Internet. And we are both living within an hour of each other. When we were pen pals we didn't even live in the same state for most of the time we knew each other. I have another pen pal I've been writing to for over 20 years. I think that is pretty amazing. We've both moved a bunch and have never lived in the same state at the same time.

I'm not sure why, but if you give me a pen and some paper I can write a ten page letter, but if I'm writing an email, I can't seem to write more than a line or two before I'm itching to hit send. It's a completely different feel for me.
