I am the first child in my family & I always felt if my brother would have been elder, it would have been better. What about you?

I think a boy is easier for new parents to start out with, i always heard the rumor, i dont have a little girl yet, but my 8 month old son is easy to take care of....

but guess what....when your son turns into a teenager..just dont try to imagine how difficult you will be to take care of your son... For example, girls will always clean their rooms.nice and clean... but guys.....oh my god....it will be horrible..probably after 10 times you have yelled at him, and then he will do it... but guess what...within 1-2 days, the room will become exactly the same as before....

What do you mean by taking care of a boy is easier for parents? The reality is that its really difficult for parents to handle their son than daughter. And yes anthonyshao who has replied is absolutely right...anyways thanks for your responses!

it really doesn't matter what gender the first child is what matters is that s/he's responsible, loving and kind to the family and to others

you know what..it doesn't matter now..it is a very traditional thought that shouldn't exist in today... In my culture, which is China, actually every other cultures......a male child will be way more preferable..because people back then thought that males will keep the existence of the family because their children will be endowed with the family name..whereas females will eventually be married off and no longer considered a part of the family...so females are not seen as important as the males... But once again..it doesn't matter....male and female are equal..

For me also male & female children are equal. Am just saying I feel sometimes that my brother would have been the elder one...anyways thanks for sharing your opinion although you took what I have written in other way it seems!

I don't think it matters who is the oldest - every family is different. i don't think my life would have been any better if I had an older brother instead of an older sister.
