Would you rather be in a wheelchair or not be able to read?

Would you rather lose the use of your legs and have to use a wheelchair, or not be able to read (and no, you couldn't learn to read either, let's say for the sake of argument that you had some brain disorder and would never be able to read, but were otherwise normal and healthy).

I'd rather lose the use of my legs than lose the use of part of my brain.

Yes, not being able to read shuts off so much of the world to you.

I have always said I would be lost if I could not read but when the alternative is to be in a wheelchair, I think I would prefer not to be able to read. If I was in a wheelchair then I would be dependant in someone to do so many things for me. Not being able to read would be something I could cope with because it would be something that I have never experienced anyway.

I don't know how you could do it. Even people that don't read for pleasure have to read prices, street signs etc. I think it would be much harder to get by without reading.

I love reading and would not like to give that up for anything at all. So i'd prefer the gift of reading. I can always read in my wheel chair provided my injury was not too much

I so love to read, but I could always have someone read to me. So I would definetly have to say not being able to read.

Easy. Wheelchair. I love reading. I spend more time sitting and reading than I spend being active. Sure, there would be an adjustment, but I could adjust to life in a wheelchair. I don't think I could adjust to a life without books, or the internet.
