If you had to choose between email + instant messaging or your cellphone, which would you give up?

I would hate to give up either one, but if I absolutely had no choice, I would have to give up my email and IM. I don't chat on my cellphone much, but I do like to have it with me incase of an emergency. Plus, I like that my children are able to get intouch with me whenever they need to.

I would definitely give up my email and IM because I just can't live without my cellphone. Most of the people I speak with on IM and email also have my cellphone number. Without my cellphone I feel like a part of me is missing. When I leave or forget my phone at home I feel so empty. I know it may sound a little stupid but that's how attached I am to it.

Definitely e-mail and I.M.! The cell phone is direct connect to friends and family. I'd rather hear their voice than read their words anyday. I also have kids, so it's great for a sitter in case of emergency or if our kids ever need to reach us while they are away. The cell phone is literally attached at the hip, so you never miss an important call and it is portable/ useable Nationwide. This decision would have been a lot more difficult if it was between the Internet and Cell, because I'm home a lot, so I can use my home phone and still surf the net, play online games, and delve into the Information Society.

I would give up the mobile phone, as I can be found easily with it. You either answer your phone or you do not, but the person ringing you knows about it. With email, there is no proof that it has been received lol. Also, IM & email is a heck of a lot cheaper than a mobile/cell phone.

i would give up e-mail,because i just cant do without mobile. agreed that both have their own advantages, i still prefer mobiles because they are so handy, u cant carry a computer with you for keeping in touch with friends, but u can carry u r cell

That's a good one. Instant messaging can go if I had to choose between the two. I'm not as restricted when I use email.
