Who do you believe in? Who tought you who or what to believe in?

Seems we are born with the desire or need to believe in something important. To have Faith and Hope. Did your parents teach you to believe in them? Did your church teach you to believe in God? To thank Jesus for answers to prayer even before the problem was solved. To ask God for that car or new job. Who ....... Did anyone teach you to believe in yourself? To have faith in your own ability? To Thank God you have a brain and the good sence to find your way out of the hell we all end up in off and on like forever???? Giving God the Glory and Jesus all the Praise , being humble and never being proud of a job well done because it is wrong to take credit for anything good in our life.... God gets that.. We are taught to take the blame when things go wrong! Sure own up to it when you mess things up.. But the guilt and fear of not pleasing God even on the way back out of the mud seems counter productive.....while We pray and ask forgiveness and for guidance believing God will work it out. When my children got good grades in school it was not my back that got patted. Do you think a loving father would want to be praised for the acomplishments of his son or grand son? How would the boy or girl or whoever have a bit of self worth or be able to go into this messed up world and be a productive person ? I just want to know who you believe in and who are you teaching your children to beliecve in. I was Not taught to believe in myself and I ran to church looking for something to believe in.
