Is laser therapy a successful way to permanently quit smoking?

My husband has smoked for over sixteen years and has been exposed to cigarette smoke his entire life. His mother smoked while she was pregnant, and she obviously smoked in the house while he was a child growing up, and then when he was a teenager he started smoking himself. He is highly addicted and really wants to quit smoking. I know that many people believe that if you really want to quit, you will just quit. However, there are people out there who do need a helping hand. He has tried the patch, and gum...and all were unsuccessful at helping him quit. He heard about laser therapy, but we want to learn more about it before he has the procedure done. Any information would be grealtly appreciated. Thanks!
