don't you think the festival is being commercialized too much that when you go to the street you wouldn't enjoy it that much because its too crowded? i remember way back sinulog was much fun because it was pure dancing and when you go to the church it is more solemn compared nowadays...this is just my opinion..i am pure cebuano and i love the sinulog very much.

sometimes we can tell that too... being commercialized or politicking :) but somehow it's a celebration for our patron saint & it also bring business to many of our fellowmen too.

Hi angel marie, thanks for posting this one. It just makes me feel more proud to be a Cebuana. And yes, we did celebrate Sinulog with some people close to my heart. I also joined in the procession a day before the Sinulog Festival itself. And I was surprised of the number of people who walk from streets to streets just to participate in the novena. Some were even lighting candles while there were also those who were bringing images of Sr. Sto. NiƱo of different sizes. And yes, the mardi gras and street dancing were reallu beautiful. Not to mention the henna tattoo mania. LOL

I attended Sinulog last year with my college friends for the first time. We enjoyed street partying till the wee hours... lots of people drinking and bands everywhere. The colorful costumes of the festival. The foods there are different here in manila. They have a triangle shaped rice (i dont know what they call it) thats a bit hard compared to the regular steamed rice. The famous lachon cebu, the grilled longganisa on stick (very yummy) the dried mangoes, its cheaper buying there. The trip is not complete without going to Plantation Bay... oh my... very relaxing place and very beautiful. I just love Cebu. I hope i can visit it again. :)
