pranayama is a part of Yoga.Pranayama is aimed at stimulating, regulating and harmonizing the vital energy of the body.we take bath every day to purify the body.Similarly Pranayama is essential to purify the mind Advantages: Keeps the body fit and healthy Reduces excessive fat. Long life improves memory Eliminates mental disorders Constant practice strengths the nervous system Mind becomes calm and gives a high degree of concentration Technique: Sit in a comfortable position on the floor. You need not be particular about intricate padmasanas or vajrasanas. Start inhaling and exhaling in your normal way. While inhaling and exhaling make a mental note of the duration of inhaling and exhaling. That is, when the first whiff of air enters your nostrils, count as 1. Then count 2, 3 and so on. The pacing of the numbers is purely your choice. The count need not be as precise as a stop watch. After inhalation to your capacity, hold your breath for some time. And don’t forget to make a mental note of holding time. Then the exhalation. This is the most important point of the process. The whole idea is to adhere to the equation I=6, E=12 and H=18.where I stands for inhalation time,E for exhalation time and H for holding time. Just this is a guideline.Dont dodge your system to religiously stick to the equation in the very first attempt. Be comfortable and gradually increase the pace and duration . Make it a habit. Devote a few minutes to this workout every day. Then see how miraculously your carbon dioxide levels are under your control. Above all you will be free from irrational thoughts and feelings of imminent doom’s day.

Try it in a light mood.As you get used to it you will be getting the results. A simple method to achieve happiness. Not getting immediate results is a common phenomena. Give time. Don't quit. After all you lose 5 minutes .isn't it?
